Rapid immunoassay for the detection of Group A Streptococci
Direct and qualitative detection of Group A streptococci antigen from throat swab specimens.
The beta-hemolytic Group A streptococci (GAS) are the major cause a streptococcal infections in human beings.
GAS cause a wide spectrum of infections, such as tonsilitis, pharyngitis, scarlet fever and skin inflammation.
About 15 million children between the age of 5 and 15 are suffering from rheumatic heart disease, a serious post infection complication of GAS.
Approximately 1 million new cases are registrated every year, which underlines the importance of rapid and reliable detection of streptococci!
